Northwest SEED is excited to host the first training in a new series: Solarize U.  Building on the success of our Solarize Washington solar group purchase program, Northwest SEED is launching a training program to facilitate replication of successful solar group purchase campaigns across the state. Training participants will learn how to launch a solar campaign in their own neighborhood, helping to make solar photovoltaics more affordable and accessible for the community at large.

Solarize U: Eastside is designed to build the capacity of local leaders, nonprofit organizations, municipal governments, and electric utilities in East King County.  The training will provide an overview of the Solarize model, solar technology and incentives, and best practices for replication.  Substantial time will be provided for breakout sessions, where participants can connect with their colleagues and begin campaign planning with the guidance of Northwest SEED staff.

Agenda items will include:

  • Principles of a Solarize Campaign
  • Solar PV Basics
  • Launching Your Solar Group Purchase Campaign
  • Breakout Sessions: Contractor Selection and Community Outreach
  • Lessons Learned from Solarize Washington

Please register for the training online at The training cost of $25 will include participation in the full-day training, a participant workbook with exercises and take-home references, access to program templates and materials, and a catered lunch.

Training attendees will walk away with the skills, materials, connections, and know-how they need to launch a Solarize campaign in their community.

Please note: This training is intended for individuals, neighborhood groups, nonprofits, city staff, and utilities that want to help launch solar group purchase campaigns in their own communities.  It is not intended for individuals that want to learn more about putting solar on their personal residence.

    What your neighbors are saying

"I chose to install a system through Solarize because of 1) group pricing, 2) the details of the installer interactions were worked out ahead of time, and 3) the neighborhood meeting served as a personal catalyst."
